To answer that question, first you’ll need to know more about what liposuction recovery is like and what to expect after liposuction. At Houston Lipo Center, we only perform minimally invasive, awake liposuction using small “micro-cannulas” that can take longer during the procedure but allows for a gentler technique by the surgeon and a quicker recovery time for you.

Our typical recovery timeline (some cases may vary) includes taking two days off work (day of surgery + day after). You can immediately return to low impact exercise after your procedure which will help with healing. After two weeks, you can return to normal activities including high impact exercise. Although, you may see some results immediately, your results will continue to improve over the course of the two to three months following your liposuction surgery – after the inflammation has subsided, excess fluid has drained, and you have healed completely.

So, when should I book a procedure?

Anytime is a good time to book a procedure since our liposuction technique is minimally invasive. But, if your goal is to be at your best for the start of summer, then December through March is the ideal time to book!

Ever heard the phrase “summer bodies are made in the winter”?  This is not only true when it comes to toning up in the gym, but it’s also true when it comes to liposuction. Liposuction results will not be fully ready until at least 2-3 months post-op.

Other Benefits of Booking Liposuction in the Winter

Less Sun Exposure

UV rays/sun exposure can darken the appearance of scars, so it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight right after your surgery as your incisions are healing. Scheduling liposuction during the winter months makes this recommendation much easier to adhere to since most winter days are spent warm and cozy indoors anyways.

Sweater Weather

After your liposuction surgery you’ll be required to wear a compression garment 24/7 for two weeks while your incisions heal. With the cooler temperatures it’s much more comfortable to layer clothing or throw on a big comfy sweater over your garments compared to the summer months.  If we know anything about Houston summers, the fewer layers – the better.

Easy to Avoid the Pool

It is not recommended to swim after a liposuction procedure until all incisions have healed completely. Swimming will be much less of a temptation during the winter months (less pool parties and beach trips).

Plenty of Recovery Time

By booking a procedure in December, January, February, or even early March you give yourself plenty of time to fully recover before all the pool days and beach vacations begin. And, what a way to celebrate your liposuction recovery by showing off your newly sculpted body all summer long!
